Professor Dr. Md. Geaur Rahman is a Professor in Computer Science at the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh. He is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Charles Sturt University, Australia. He also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the REFRAME Project which was coordinated by the Université de Strasbourg, the University of Bristol and the Universitat Politècnica de València.
Professor Rahman has more than 14 years of experience in teaching at several public universities in Bangladesh. Moreover, he has around 5 years of experience in teaching as a casual academic at the Charles Sturt University, Australia. He has also 2 years of experience in administrative positions including the Director (2016 to 2018) of the Postgraduate Diploma in Information and Communication Technology (PGD in ICT) Programme, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh.
Dr. Rahman received his PhD degree in Computer Science from the School of Computing and Mathematics in Charles Sturt University, Australia. He received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Engineering & B.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Technology from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh.
During his PhD Study, he received a number of awards including the Best Presentation Award at the 2014 Research Higher Degree Symposium in Charles Sturt University, Australia, the Writing Up Award 2014 from Charles Sturt University, Australia, and the Best Paper Award for his paper published at the 11th Australasian Data Mining Conference (AusDM 13), Canberra, Australia. Moreover, in his undergraduate study he was awarded a Gold Medal for securing the highest mark among the students of the entire Science faculty.
His research interests include data cleansing/pre-processing, data mining and knowledge discovery, missing value analysis, machine learning, transfer learning, pattern recognition, bioinformatics, big data analysis and neural networks. So far he has published 31 peer reviewed papers in high quality journals and conferences including Knowledge based Systems (KBS) (ISI Web of Knowledge Rank Q1, Impact Factor 4.529, the 6th best (out of 115) journal in the category of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence), Knowledge and Information Systems (KAIS) (ISI Web of Knowledge Rank Q1, Impact Factor 2.225), Expert Systems with Applications (ISI Web of Knowledge 2014 Rank Q1, Impact Factor 3.928), International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN’12) (ERA 2010 Rank A), Australasian Data Mining Conference (AusDM’13) (ERA 2010 Rank B), AusDM’11, International Conference on Advanced Data Mining and Applications (ADMA’13) (ERA 2010 Rank B).
Moreover, Professor Rahman is serving as a reviewer of Pattern Recognition, Knowledge-based Systems, Expert Systems with Applications, Journal of Information Processing Systems, Applied Computing and Informatics, Computer Communication and Collaboration, and Australasian Data Mining Conference. Moreover, He is serving as an editorial board member of an International Journal CSIT, and as a program committee member of DaEng’13 and AusDM’14, AusDM’15, AusDM’16, and AusDM’17.
